1925. Josephine Baker, a young black American music hall dancer, leaves behind segregated America to try her luck in Paris and becomes in an overnight the darling of the City of Light. Her “wild dance” shakes up old Europe, but each time she returns to her childhood country, Josephine encounters racism and discrimination. This film tells the story of the political awakening of the first black superstar in history.
